Turkey Day Confessions

I love that the humpday confessions are back (and that I'm totally late in realizing that) so it's time for some Turkey Day Confessions !

More Coffee Less Talky

// I need to start by saying that I have no strong feelings about Thanksgiving.  My facebook and Insta feeds are saturated with anti-shopping, "We murdered the pilgrims !", typical offended chatter.  Thanksgiving is an excuse to not have to work, eat food with people, and otherwise be a completely lazy and unproductive member of society.  And sometimes it reminds people to be nice and say "Thank you" or "I'm thankful for you".  If you need to have strong opinions about holidays, may I suggest you drink a big glass of shut the eff up ?

// I'm actually not a huge fan of all the food served on Thanksgiving (I'm a fan of food in general, but who isn't ?!)  I have to be really hungry to even want turkey on a normal day, let alone pump myself up to have so much of it on one day.  And I'm kinda meh about all the other stuff too.  Except mashed potatoes. And pumpkin pie.  Leave those on my side of the table and no one gets hurt.  But this is the one day a year where I can eat for like 2 hours and no one says anything.  You can roll me towards the TV later, because I'll probably be twice my size.

// I'm not running a turkey trot to make room for the food I'm going to eat later. I'm running it to run off all the junk I've eaten up until then.  Eating all the food after is just an added bonus.

// I haven't spent a Thanksgiving in Jersey in so long that I can't actually remember the last time. I'm actually not really that sad about it, because the only difference between Thanksgiving dinner and normal dinner is that we eat in the dining room.  I'm Italian; we always eat that much food.

// What I AM sad about is missing the parade because I'll be running.  I love the parade.  Because when it's over, and Santa shows up, it's always been the green light that Okay, NOW I can be excited about Christmas...the big guy said I could.  But also the floats are pretty cool and the one time I actually went to NYC and saw it (we got there - and froze - at 4AM just to get a good spot) I got to see Tim Curry and my life was awesome.  Basically the parade is my favorite part of Thanksgiving.

//  I'm not a big fan of watching football on Thanksgiving because I usually fall asleep.  I am however, hoping that B's family is cool with watching all the Thanksgiving episodes of Friends.  Because Monica.

// Because I don't say it nearly enough, I want you to know that I'm thankful for all of you who read this.  You are special and I love you. I hope you have an amazing weekend. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU !

Happy Thanksgiving !

  1. I watched about 75% of the Friends Thanksgiving episode this weekend. They have so many and they are all great, I'll probably watch them all again tomorrow! Happy Thanksgiving!

  2. Friends really just knew how to do a Thanksgiving episode like none other. They were all on point and there are SO MANY I love them so much. I also have no strong feelings about Thanksgiving but for different reasons...as I look around the Internet today I'm realizing I guess I'm the only person who eats a normal amount on Thanksgiving? Maybe I'm seriously missing out on this so-called free pass. Hope you and B have a great race and a great dinner tomorrow. Happy Thanksgiving <3

  3. I love the Friend's Thanksgiving episodes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are the best!!! I really enjoy Thanksgiving for just getting to hang around and eat. There are some traditional plates I skip over so I can eat the more delicious things like pineapple casserole, sweet potato casserole and all the pies :) Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

  4. i am not a fan of the food either. i don't mind turkey, but i like ground / mince turkey. i really hate pumpkin pie (sorry!) and all the other stuff. basically i gorge myself on mac n cheese, mashed potatoes and rolls. which is basically a normal day for me. i obviously have no strong feelings about the day either, it's just a day off (two days off!) for me.

  5. I like Thanksgiving because it's one of the few times that I don't feel rushed to eat quickly. I'm a slow eater at regular meals, but at least on this holiday, people aren't leaving me at the table by myself! I went to the Thanksgiving parade exactly once, and as we were being crushed by the crowds exiting, someone stole my mom's purse. I was little, and was actually much more upset about it than she was. Friends Thanksgiving episodes are my favorite. Have a happy Thanksgiving!
